Bandaids Falling From their Souls (A Work in Progress)

Reece Sutherland

Reece Sutherland

Jesse Coltrip was murdered in Gaytown on his twenty-first birthday. The police believed he was the seventh victim of Rainbow Killer Two, a serial villian targeting gay men in Houston. But was he?

On the day of his death Jesse called Reece Sutherland, the psychology intern running Lifetime Commitments Inc (LCI) to warn her that the brain mapping system they were using to pair clients in romantic relationships was flawed. Clients were actually being matched in lethal combinations. Dr. Thurston had invested years in research and had everything to lose if Jesse’s accusations were proven true.

There’s also Reverend Frank Blevins who is establishing his own cult-like church. He believes that being gay is a sin and will destroy the country. His church hosts a conversion program and the counselor for that program was found to be Jesse’s romantic match at LCI. Would his activist group kill to protect the church?

Reece, ex-intelligence analyst for the CIA, believes Jesse is right. She suspects Jesse is not a victim of the Rainbow Killer, but the work of someone desperate to hide the true purpose of the brain matching system at LCI. Her ex-lover and ex-boss Joe Rios came to Houston on behalf of the Department of Defense and adds more confusion to Reece’s life. Will she betray her husband and follow her feelings for Joe?

Reece is determined to find out if LCI is responsible for Jesse’s death. Her sleuthing leads to questions about LCI’s involvement in invisible terrorism, a psychological assassination tool which uses brain pattern patterns to identify what is required for someone to kill themselves or someone else.

Who killed Jesse? Was he a victim of the Rainbow Killer, a casualty of a psychological experiment, or a victim of an overzealous activist group? Reece risks her life to find out.
